Cycling to my job as NHS matron in 2007 a van knocked me off my bike ( driver appropriately prosecuted). I suffered a severe head injury ( put in an induced coma in ITU) had a broken pelvis, broken facial bone near eye and numerous broken teeth and other injuries .I spent 3 months in hospital and back to work in my matron role after 8 months. The NHS, my husband, friends, family and colleagues were amazing.

Head way have been with me all this time doing exactly as they say - providing help and support to improve life after a head injury - encouraging me to believe in myself again through their written information, telephone conversations and 1:1 meetings with a councillor.They have given me the drive to work with the brain issues that now live with me and make me who I am now. Distance running is my love so this September and October I am running the Bridgwater half marathon, the Barnstaple half marathon and the the Great South run in Portsmouth for the Headway charity as I feel it is never too late to give back.
