Suzanne’s story:
My husband used to hate a sob story. I’d make him watch bake off or some reality singing program and as soon as they came on with any drama in their lives at all he’d shout at the tv that it didn’t make them a better baker/singer.. whatever.
He had strong opinions, he was funny (sometimes hilarious), annoyingly frustrating, clever with zero common sense and he cared so much about all of his family and his friends. He was my husband, my best friend and an amazing father to our two children.
He died on the 13th January 2020. He had long term mental health issues and it became too much for him so he jumped off the Queensferry Crossing. No real warning and no discernible reason. An illness like any other.
There was a storm that day. The weather was awful, freezing cold, howling gale and the rain was coming down in sheets. Enda’s body wasn’t recovered until Thursday 16th January 2020. I can’t describe the pain that me and the rest of his family went through in those 4 days. The one thing that kept us going was that no one gave up on us. The police, the coastguard, RNLI. They were all out searching day and night in atrocious conditions.
All of the emergency services who were out searching for those four days are without doubt my hero’s. The RNLI lifeboat crew are extra special though. Most of the crew are unpaid volunteers, giving up their time and their own safety to help those in need time and time again.
So. It’s time to give something back and raise some well needed funds for the RNLI. Lindsay and I are doing tough mudder on 15th June 2024. It’s all Lindsay’s fault. She made me do it to give us both a challenge for the year (and trust me it will be a challenge for me!). While we’re at it we may as well do some good in the world…. Hence the sob story (sorry Enda).
Please give if you can.
