Story
Stephanie died on the evening of October 7th 2024. She was taken ill during the day. She had intestinal ischemia and did not survive the surgery.
One of the few things Stephanie did well was to walk, although she didn't do that until she was 8 years old. Walking was the only independence Stephanie had.
I decided last year that I wanted to do more to help people like Stephanie and raise awareness to prevent other families going through what our family has over the past year. I took up running on World Mental Health Day and 4 weeks later completed my first parkrun and from there a Marathon seemed the next natural step.
Running is helping with the grieving process. It's not easy getting out of bed some days, for Stephanie life wasn't easy, but she got on with it without a grumble or a complaint, because she wasn't able to communicate, so in her memory I can't think of anything better to do than just get on with it.
Please sponsor me as I train in the cold, the dark mornings and nights, drag my sorry arse out of bed, give up smoking and try not to get narky. All in her memory. All money raised goes to Bowel Research.
