Jonah's 1/2 Marathon for the Christies challenge

JONAH'S PARKRUN HALF MARATHON · 9 September 2023
This month marks 2 years since Jonah received life saving Proton Beam therapy at the Proton Centre at Christies Hospital in Manchester .
Jonah was just 4 years old and undergoing intensive chemotherapy at Alder Hey when he received urgent Proton therapy at this state of the art centre, the first of its kind in the UK.
Proton treatment was only available to a small number of patients, approved by a panel of medical professionals. We have never been in doubt how lucky, in the most unlucky and devastating of circumstances we were to have this treatment available to us, to him.
In recognition of this Jonah is taking part in this years 6 for £60 challenge ! 6 fundraising challenges carried out by our friends and family , each raising a minimum of £60 for Christies hospital, for Jonah
Our amazing team, Auntie Emma, Uncle Ste and Auntie Claire have already paved the way raising over £3,500 in their collective challenges so far !
now its Jonah's turn.
Ever the competitor Jonah in November last year started Junior Parkrun a timed 2 km run. He did this each week whilst still undergoing chemotherapy and having central lines and feeding tubes in his chest. Determined to get stronger and faster.
After a few forced absences along the way this week marks the completion of his Parkrun half Marathon - he will have ran 22km over 13 miles and get his wristband!
what better way to use this milestone, one of many he smashes, to complete his challenge for Christies Hospital, the centre that brought us his Sunbeams !
Any donations to help smash his target will be very much appreciated
