Story
Suze in the Saddle
On Friday 10th July 2026, I’ll be lining up to fulfil a childhood dream: riding in a real horse race. Taking part in the Property Race Day Charity Race at Ascot, flying down the iconic straight mile.
Getting to that start line is no easy feat. Before I’m allowed to race, I must score over 65% in a demanding fitness test at Newmarket on 7th May - headlines include, a four‑minute plank, a four‑minute squat hold on wobble cushions, and a 90‑second press‑up hold. These are quickly becoming my new breakfast routine.
I also need to build serious riding fitness, which is challenging while living and working in London. So, for the next few months, weekends will be dedicated to driving back to Gloucestershire, where I will be riding out at Fergal O'Brien's, to spend as much time in the saddle as possible. Fergal and his amazing team at Ravenswell Farm, has very kindly promised to support my training for the race, and hopefully provide me with a licenced runner for the big race (TBC).
About the Property Race Day
Property Race Day Charity Race, held over Ascot’s straight mile, is the final race of the day. The race will feature a maximum of twelve runners and will be started by flag. The Property Race Day is a remarkable occasion for industry professionals to network, enjoy thrilling races, and raise essential funds for child-based charities, both domestic and international. To date, PRD has raised over £3.5m, which has been instrumental in making the event a success year after year.

Why I'm Fundraising
As part of this year’s race, I’m required to raise £5,000 for my chosen charity, LandAid — a UK organisation supporting young people who have experienced homelessness, helping them build brighter, safer, more stable futures.

How You Can Help
I would be hugely grateful for any support in helping me reach my £5,000 target. To ensure I'm personally, financially and logistically ready for the race, there is an enormous amount to do, but it is a challenge I’m proud to be taking on.
Your donation, no matter the size, will genuinely make a difference to young people experiencing homelessness across the UK.
Thank you so much for your support.
Susie xx
