I have volunteered with Muirfield Riding Therapy since 2014 and I witness week in, week out, the incredible life changing benefits that equine therapy brings to our participants.

Our Centre delivers free sessions to many children and adults each week and in addition we provide special “quiet corner” opportunities where participants can spend one to one time with a pony; grooming, leading or simply observing and quietly being alongside such a magnificent animal in a safe and supported space.

These sessions are run by a squadron of volunteers who work tirelessly to give quality, meaningful and hugely beneficial therapy.

Our herd of 11 star ponies are incredibly well cared for and hugely loved by all who know and work with them. They are all specially trained to meet the needs of our participants and have a rewarding life outside of the important work they do, through our wonderful sharers scheme.

All this costs £200,000 a year to deliver and we rely solely on donations and fundraising.

This is why I have taken on the challenge of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk in 2026.
