Story
Dear Reader
St Werburgh & St Laurence SVP is situated in the centre of Birkenhead, a town that has high levels of poverty and unemployment.
Since the 1st April this year our team at St Werburgh's has made 189 visits to the elderly, 24 hospital visits and 35 to care homes.
However, visiting those in our community is only part of our role. We have also been taking people out that are house bound, doing shopping, supporting those who need food vouchers and helping those who find themselves in a situation in need of white goods or furniture.
Case study: A single man who had been homeless for months make the flat he'd found become his home.
Case study: A young mum whose children needed beds, not always as simple as organising beds due to space available or ages of the children. However, we managed to obtain a toddler bed and a cot for her youngest.
Sometimes, as funding is limited people cannot have all that they expect. Someone needing all white goods will have to prioritize, often given an airfyer instead of a cooker if there is only a single residency.
Money raised is spent carefully and is spent on need rather than desire. Please consider our cause as our parish hall has now closed and fundraising through socials and cake mornings are now ceased.
Any donation is gratefully received. Thank you .
