Fundraiser for the Sundeep Watts Memorial Fund

Ironman 70.3 Aix-En-Provence · 21 May 2023
Our friendship group lost an exceptional individual in November 2007. Sundeep Watts was a trailblazer, excelling in academics, sports, all whilst being the funniest guy in the room with the potential to become a world leader. Sadly, his life was cut short by Meningitis during his first year at Oxford University.
However, Sundeep's legacy lives on through The Sundeep Watts Memorial Fund, a fund set up by Deep's family in his name with the aim of improving education and welfare in some of the poorest regions of Africa. Having visited the continent, and Kenya in particular, on a number of occasions, Sundeep had a great passion for Africa; its wildlife; it's people; and its culture.
An enthusiastic young man with great ambitions, Deep's enduring resolution was to make a difference in those regions of Africa most deprived of the mere basics. The charity has made a significant impact in Kenya, where its focus has been on transforming and supporting a fledging school for orphaned girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 13 years. The school is known as Joycelands and provides all the basic facilities for delivering primary school education. By building the school, implementing facilities, and improving the future of orphaned children, the charity has transformed the lives of hundreds of young boys and girls.
But the success of the charity has brought its own challenges. With a growth of 30 pupils to over 400 in the last 15 years, the school now requires ongoing funds to sustain its operation. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a severe blow to charity fundraising, making it difficult for many organizations to continue their vital work.
This is where your support can make a difference. By donating to The Sundeep Watts Memorial Fund, you can make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of children in need. Your contribution will help provide vital resources, improve facilities, and enhance the education of orphaned boys and girls in Rongo, Kenya. Your gift will make a difference for generations to come and help fulfil Sundeep's vision of a brighter future for all.

As a challenge, I'll be competing in my first Triathlon, an Ironman 70.3. I've always loved all three disciplines (maybe not running so much) but never put them all together. You can follow my training via the Strava links below.
