🧗‍♂️ Rappelling for Rays! – Help Us Bring Sunshine to the ITU ☀️

Event Date: 12th July 2025

Fundraising Goal: £300

Venue: Luton & Dunstable University Hospital New Building

Hi everyone!

I'm a Senior Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, and on 12th July 2025, I’ll be doing something slightly unhinged (but totally safe, I promise): abseiling down the side of our hospital — all in the name of bringing a little sunshine into our Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU).

Now, we already give our patients world-class care — but what we can’t prescribe on the drug chart is something they sorely miss: fresh air and actual sunlight (remember that stuff?). So we’re raising funds to transform our ITU balcony into a patient-friendly, peaceful outdoor space where people can safely step out, breathe, and just feel human again — and where our heroic staff can also catch a well-deserved breather.

Once upon a time, I used to rappel down cliffs in the Western Ghats of India with my medical school adventure club. Then I became a doctor... and the most climbing I’ve done since is up the hospital staircase after a bleep. So this abseil is a chance to reconnect with my inner adrenaline junkie and raise money for a cause close to my heart.

🌿 Your donation — big or small — helps us bring more light, air, and life into our ITU.

If you’ve ever said “I could never do your job,” here’s your chance to support it without touching a single IV line.

Thanks a million for cheering me on (and helping me not chicken out)!
