KATIE FOLEY is raising money for Les Amis

Swimming Against Time · 21 June 2026

Founded in 1975, Les Amis' mission is to empower people with learning disabilities such as Down's Syndrome and associated conditions, like autism, cerebral-palsy and more. Today it supports around 100 adult Islanders at any one time via three services to suit a variety of complex, evolving needs.

Story

Sammy, Aleks and Tia (SAT) have worked together at Les Amis for a number of years. When they learned that additional funding was needed to support the development of Project Trinity, they knew they wanted to do more to help.

Together, they have taken on the challenge of swimming in every bay in Jersey — 32 bays in a single day. And so, the Swimming Against Time (SAT) Challenge was born.

It’s no small feat. With both time and tides working against them, the team must complete at least 30 strokes in every bay as they push themselves to raise vital funds and awareness for the project.

Les Amis has been supporting and empowering adults with learning disabilities and/or associated conditions since 1975. Our aim is to provide a full range of services as diverse as the requirements of our clients. Les Amis' residential and respite houses offer a homely environment where residents feel empowered and able to express themselves with the encouragement and support that allows them to make real choices that affect their lives.
