Story
We’re doing it again… and this year we’ve made it even harder.
Last September, Katy, Sarah, Abi, Liv, Hannah and Amy, completed a 24 hour relay swim at Watersedge in Worcestershire to raise money for UK charity Level Water.
Learning to swim is a vital skill for any child, but mainstream swimming lessons don’t work for everyone. That’s where Level Water comes in. They offer fully funded swimming lessons to children with disabilities and learning difficulties, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn to swim.
During the weekend last year we learned a lot about their work, and were excited to hear that they operate in Harborne, where Katy, Abi and Amy live. Hearing the impact they’ve had in our local community has made us even more determined to raise even more money for them this year.
But doing exactly the same challenge doesn’t really seem worthy of a donation does it?
So this year, we’ll be doing it with one less person. So instead of four swims that’s FIVE hours of swimming per person in a 24 hour period.
That means at least four of us will have TWO night swims. From experience, we can tell you the first one’s not so bad, but let us tell you, getting out of a sleeping bag, and into a chilly lake in the dark at 1/2/3am, on two hours of sleep… is NOT EASY. And then getting up and doing the same thing again at 5/6/7am after again just a couple of hours sleep? EVEN HARDER.
So PLEASE, help us get through what we KNOW is going to be a really tough challenge, by donating whatever you can.
Thank you!
