As a volunteer, you will deliver the SwimTayka Method youth education program in Drowning Prevention and Water Stewardship. The programme is a hands-on, youth education module for children ages 4 14, to teach basic swimming skills & water safety.

Story

In August 2025 as a volunteer swim instructor for Swim Tayka, a nonprofit that offers free swimming lessons and drowning prevention education to underprivileged children who live along the earth’s open water: rivers, lakes and oceans, I will be able to support their mission to prevent drowning in coastal communities and ensure that every child can enjoy the water safely. You can too, by just adding a small amount to my fundraising campaign in support of the nonprofit.

Swim Tayka works in many countries globally including Uganda, Peru, and Brazil. My goal is to raise £2,000 (British pounds, about $2600 US) for the organization before I head to Bali mid-July. I'm covering my own costs. Your generous contributions will directly support Swim Takya's efforts in providing essential swimming lessons and safety education for children in coastlines around the globe. Together, we can help those who live by the ocean and waterways to safely enjoy themselves.

Swim Takya teams up with Swimdo, the Balinese nonprofit team operating from Keramas, Bali. Since 2015, Swimdo's aquatic education programs have reached many island children to be safe around and in the water. I'll be part of an international and local team comprised of professionals with extensive experience in swim instruction, CPR, water safety, oceanography, and community development. Your donation will help both nonprofits.

With over 22 years of experience myself, including my teenage years, I feel grateful to contribute my skills to this important cause. In the photos I'm volunteer swim instructing with refugees on the island of Lesbos in Greece in 2022. It's an empowering experience for student and teacher!
