Laerke Pickering Thomasen is raising money for Alternative Angels
Story
During November Community Day, Niantic are encouraging every Community Ambassador and their team to hold a food drive to support a local charity or pantry of their choice. If the event sees at least ten attendees, the charity of our choice will be added to a lottery where Niantic will donate $1000 to five charities.
We have chosen Alternative Angels in Swindon as "our" charity. Many of you who do spotlight hours in the town centre of Tuesdays will have seen how they feed the town's homeless from The Pilgrim Centre. However, they do much more than just that, as their mission illustrates:

Welcome to Alternative Angels, where our mission is clear: to provide Swindon's homeless and most vulnerable residents with a secure and welcoming space where they can enjoy hot nourishing meals. Beyond serving food, we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community and offering a compassionate ear for those who need it most. We provide not just meals but also vital support, guidance, and connections to essential services.
Our Beneficiaries
Many of the individuals we serve have faced significant life disruptions due to abusive relationships, homelessness, or addiction to drugs or alcohol. We're here to offer them a lifeline and hopefully a path toward rebuilding their lives.
So in short, a local and very worthy recipient of anything we can raise!
Julian, our Community Ambassador, will take any foodstuffs donated on the Mankey Community Day at 14:00, 10th of November, 2024 in the GWR Park Swindon (also known as Farringdon Park) - and remember to sign in through Campfire, if you join us there.
