Story
As a school we have supported this event for many years. This year's special 35th anniversary should be epic and see the Rotary Swimarathon smash through the 1 million pound total. They work hard to raise all the costs to put this event on so every penny raised goes back into our local community.
This gives our pupils the chance to be part of something valuable, making a difference in their community. They also learn skills associated with organising and running a largescale community charity event.
Our parents, pupils and staff also work hard to add to this event and swim twice over the weekend with leaders sometime swimming in excess of 6 hours. Our largest total raised was last year and came in at £4,100.
Target this year is to beat that and as it is the special 35th anniversary I have set our total to £4,135!!!
Here we go team SWRA - let's do this!
Update: Monday 25th March
Well what can I say! What an incredible year this special 35th Swimarathon has been.
As a school we have smashed all records. Most swimmers, most leaders, most staff and families, most lengths swam and most fundraising!
So far we have raised £5261. 40. This was helped because a couple of ex-pupil families swim annually and the boss of one of them matched their fundraising £4£ so donated an additional £230. If this was not nice enough they then pledged another donation of £500 so an incredible £730 pledged in addition to the amazing amount their families fundraise too.
We also had some incredible amounts from individual pupils. These were over £100, £200 and even £300! One family raised nearly £600 which is incredible!
As I’ve helped with this event for years I am always trying until the bitter end to help raise totals so as my parting thank you I wanted to say if anyone else did want to donate it is not too late. The only way to donate now is on our just giving link.
Thank you so much to all the swimmers, leaders, parent swimmers and everyone that sponsored us. All the money raised goes back into local Lincolnshire charities. And they smashed their £1 Million pound target this year which was such a privilege to see! Thank you!
After Easter we will hold a special rewards breakfast for all swimmers and leaders!
