Every Child Deserves a Healthy Start — I'm Summiting Mount Kenya to Help Make It Happen

Orange United is raising money for GSK - Save the Children partnership
40 GSK & ViiV employees have been selected to take part in Orange United’s Trek for Health. Trek for Health is a 7-day challenge trekking to the summit of Mount Kenya in February 2027 supporting Save the Children and Amref Health Africa.

Story

Every child deserves a healthy start. That's worth climbing a mountain for.

I work in clinical drug development, and health equity isn't just a cause to me —it's personal.

In February 2027, I'll be trekking to the summit of Mount Kenya —a week-long, high-altitude challenge that will push me further than I've ever gone before. Summiting the mountain is no small feat; that's exactly why I said yes.

I believe that where you're born shouldn't determine whether you survive your first five years of life. In Kenya, ~39 children in every 1,000 don't make it to their fifth birthday* —not because medicine can't help them, but because that medicine never reaches them. That's what Save the Children and Amref Health Africa are changing, and why I'm doing this.

Save the Children reached over 680,000 people in Kenya in 2024 alone. Amref is training local health workers and forging partnerships with county governments to improve maternal and newborn survival where it matters most.

Every donation goes directly to this work —and every contribution is matched, so your gift goes twice as far. I'd be grateful for anything, however small. Together, our group of 40 is aiming to raise over £180,000 (~$230,000 USD).

I hope you'll follow along —and if you can, help me hit my fundraising goal.

Thank you,

Solomon
