Yorkshire 3 Peaks Hike - Ingleborough, Whernside & Pen-y-Ghent · 21 August 2026

FoodCycle community meals bring people together for good food and conversation. We serve free, wholesome meals made from food that would have gone to waste, prepared by volunteers and open to everyone. Stopping loneliness and hunger, food poverty and food waste.

Story

My name is Szymon and I am a chef and avid hiker. In this fundraiser in aid of FoodCycle I am combining my passion for food and my love of the outdoors.

Having recently completed hikes up Helvellyn and Skiddaw in the Lake District, as well as all 3 Yorkshire peaks individually, this will be my greatest challenge yet. A total distance of 24 miles and ascent of over 1600m (5000ft) to complete in just 12 hours!

I have previously volunteered for this amazing charity and know first hand just how impactful even a single meal for someone in need can be. A lot of FoodCycle's values align with my own, which will be great motivation to keep going in what I'm sure will be a gruelling final few miles to the finish line!

See the graphics for how donations could help and what your contributions could be used for, and the text below to learn more about FoodCycle. If I fail to complete my hike, the money raised will still go to support the work of FoodCycle.

Thanks for the support,

Szymon Kapica

FoodCycle is working to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community.

Every week, across the country, FoodCycle volunteers prepare delicious community meals that are, free, open to all, and made using food that would have otherwise gone to waste – helping both people and the planet.

Bringing people together over a shared meal improves eating habits, mental and physical wellbeing and builds social connection.
