Story
My Dad (Juzar) sadly passed away from a Glioblastoma brain tumor in September 2019. My Mum (Farida), my brother (Ammar), my aunt (Kausar) and I are walking the 5.5km "Walk of Hope" in his memory to raise money for Brain Tumor Research. To make things more challenging I'll be carrying a 30kg sandbag (that's the equivalent of 6 bowling balls).
From my Dad's initial diagnosis in 2017, the outlook of the tumour was bleak. Even with gold standard care, the life expectancy was less than 12 months.
But he never gave up hope and, as a dedicated scientist by trade, he spent hours studying the literature on the latest cutting edge treatments, firmly believing that one day a cure may be found. Unfortunately, even today, the prognosis for a Glioblastoma remains poor with no effective long term treatments.
But via the crucial research supported by charities such as the "Brain Tumor Research", more advanced treatments will be developed in the future that give hope to patients and families and allow them to lead longer, healthier lives. So please do give generously to this worthy cause!
