I am fundraising for the expansion of Birmingham Central Masjid. I have pledged to raise £30,000, Inshallah.

Birmingham Central Mosque is the second purpose built mosque in the United Kingdom, which was built in 1969 and opened to the public in the early 70’s. It is one of the most recognised religious buildings in the city of Birmingham and a result, a vast number of people visit this mosque every year.

Over the years, the existing Mosque facilities have reached their maximum capacity and many of the facilities are not fit for purpose in the current environment.

Trustees, with the support of the Muslim community, have now obtained planning permission for redeveloping the front section of the Masjid by demolishing the front single-story section and the external winding stairs, reconfiguring the internal Ground Floor space, erecting a state of the art Annex building to the front of the Mosque, uplifting all elevators, relocating the funeral room and reconfiguring the car parks.

The new development will offer opportunities for more constructive activities, contribute to social interactions between different groups and assist in community cohesion. The proposal is intended to meet the current and future religious needs.
