Story
James was a top, top guy. Very empathetic, intelligent, and lots of fun. I will be running the Bristol Half Marathon donned in his banana costume, in his memory and as a reminder that most of us, at least, will be vulnerable to mental health struggles at points in our lives.
I want to raise some funds to help Talk Club in their vital work.
Talk Club is a UK male mental health charity. In the UK, 76% of suicides are male. Talk Club fosters a community and facilitates peer-to-peer talking, listening, exercising, and/or therapy groups to drive change in how men connect.
By donating to my fundraiser, you'll be helping to facilitate these sometimes life-saving groups. These safe, confidential spaces encourage men to open up and improve their mental health.
During lockdown, James organised remote 'Get Downs' where we'd meet via Zoom and dance for hours to a synchronised playlist that he'd largely curated - a real help for the mental health of his friends. He was also magnificent with the customers of Smaller Footprints, especially any Spanish speaking ones (!!), many of whom at that time were feeling somewhat isolated, but never when speaking with J.
Thank you very much if you decide to contribute a little x
