Story
Hello everyone,
I’m incredibly proud to serve on the Board of parkrun, and even more excited to be lacing up my trainers for the London Marathon in April 2026 - all in support of keeping parkrun free for everyone, forever.
Why? Because I truly believe parkrun is the world’s largest and most impactful free public health initiative. With a global community of over 11 million people across 23 countries, parkrun isn't just about running — it’s about transforming lives through movement, connection, and wellbeing.
Here’s why I believe parkrun is special:
🏃🏾♀️ 8 in 10 parkrunners say their physical health and fitness has improved since joining
🏃🏾♀️ 77% of children feel happy, confident, strong, and full of energy after taking part in junior parkrun
🏃🏾♀️ The average parkrun finish time is getting slower - a sign that we're reaching more people who are new to exercise, not just seasoned runners
🏃🏾♀️ And the impact? For every £1 invested in parkrun, there’s a return of £16.70 in economic benefits - including £10 in healthcare savings for the NHS
This will be my second time running this distance in my life, and while I know the road ahead isn’t easy, every single donation of any amount will inspire me to keep moving...'just' 8 parkruns and a sprint finish!
I love supporting an organisation that gives so much to help people live healthier, happier lives. Together, we can help ensure parkrun stays free, weekly, and welcoming - for everyone.
Thank you so much in advance for your support,
Tamara
