World Down Syndrome Day 2026

Tamara Walton is raising money for Down Syndrome Training and Support Service Ltd

Astrid's 2.1 Mile Walk · 21 March 2026

Last year we held a wonderful campaign and raised just over £100,000 through your efforts - sponsored walks, runs, hair cuts, raffles, our Chromosome Rocks event.... The funds ensured we are secure for all of 2026. We need to raise £60,000 for 2027.

Story

Astrid has fundraised for the last 2 years to raise money for World Down Syndrome Day, and this year she's at it again - this time supporting our local charity in Bingley, where she's been loving attending a monthly group to meet other families much like our own.

When she was born and surprised us with a DS diagnosis, one of the things (among a long list of others) they told us she would struggle with is walking. In usual Astrid fashion, she said "thanks but nah" and started walking a few months before her second birthday. This time last year Astrid raised money by doing laps of our house with her push-along walker, and this year she's going for a big girl walk - 2.1 miles around St Ives Estate, where she loves having a splash in the puddles and feeding the ducks in the pond.

If anyone would like to donate and support Astrid on her big toddle, we'd be very grateful - the money will go towards the charity's goal of raising £60,000 to cover the service they provide into 2027.
