I am joining Team Leo to help them beat Mito!

Tamsin Leighton is raising money for The Lily Foundation
“Great North Run and the Royal Parks Half Marathon”
We hope that by sharing Leo’s story, we can create a community to help raise money for The Lily Foundation, a charity working tirelessly to support families in the UK living with mito.

Story

Leo is the gorgeous son of Laura and Kev, and the much-loved baby brother of Matilda, Gabe’s girlfriend.

In January 2024 Leo was born with a rare mitochondrial disease, known in abbreviated terms as LBSL. This diagnosis has left them feeling sad and confused, not least because Leo appeared to be a healthy newborn baby. Leo's journey so far has been complex, but he is surrounded by family and friends who love and cherish him every day.

This year I’m running the Great North Run and Royal Parks Half Marathon as part of “Team Leo”, to raise funds for The Lily Foundation, a charity dedicated to mitochondrial disease. The Lily Foundation supports families like Leo’s and also helps fund vital research, including Jamie’s PhD at Newcastle University.

If you’re able to, please donate. Every penny raised helps support families affected by mito, and helps advance research towards effective treatments and that all-important cure.

Thank you x
