Story
On Tuesday 2nd June 2026 at 9am, we will step out in Avebury, Wiltshire and begin a 100 mile journey on foot across The Ridgeway. Five days later, on Saturday 6th June at around 6pm, we hope to take our final steps into The Plume of Feathers in Markyate, Hertfordshire — tired, blistered, emotional, but proud. We are walking to raise funds for Cancer Research UK a cause incredibly close to our hearts.
There are very few people today whose lives haven’t been touched by cancer. Both our families have felt its impact for decades: Tim lost his mum to cancer and has been diagnosed with prostate cancer himself. Thankfully, it’s currently under control and he has no symptoms, but living with the diagnosis is something he faces every single day.
Sara lost her uncle, her step-mum fought breast cancer and thankfully recovered, and ten years ago, she lost her amazing mum to lung cancer after a courageous seven-year battle.
We have both lost close friends along the way and each loss a painful reminder of how urgently we need better answers.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps fund life-changing research and brings us one step closer to breakthroughs that could save lives.
Keep your eyes peeled - if you spot us roaming anywhere between Avebury and Markyate from 2nd – 6th June, please cheer, clap, shout, honk your horn, or make whatever encouraging noise you are capable of - anything that makes us smile or keeps us going - we’ll happily accept! (we’ll also have donation links at hand)
Thank you so much for your support - it truly means the world to us.
