Story
I have had non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) lung infection since 2015. I took three powerful antibiotics for a year in 2021 which cleared the infection for a bit but unfortunately it has returned. The worse symptoms for me are a chronic cough, fatigue and weight loss.
I can't run so I'm going to walk the half marathon (13 miles) as fast as I can. Toby and Ruth (my brother and sister-in-law) will be running though so will most likely have to wait quite a while for me at the finishing line - thanks chaps.
At the moment NTM is counted as a rare disease in the UK but numbers are increasing. The disease is wide-spread in areas across the globe. NTM Patient Care UK do so much to raise awareness and support patients like me. To find out more visit www.ntmpatientcare.uk.
