I am taking part in the Edinburgh Kilt Walk 2023 as part of this, I am raising funds for my chosen charity Brightsparks as they have helped us so much over the last 6 years.

As most of my friends and family know our son Nathan has autism. Not one day with him is the same. Having a child who has additional needs is a crazy journey one that in so many ways I am thankful for! It’s been a tough road but it’s been an eye opening one. He has not only taught us to be thankful for the small things but to just enjoy life more.

Normal day to day life can be challenging for Nathan and as with many others with additional needs, the triggers are everywhere!

The one place that has always been an amazing support and a safe haven has been Brightsparks. From days out, to play sessions and general support we could not have survived without the help from them. We have also met a bunch of parents from our time with the charity who just get it. Not everyone gets how crazy this life can be with our little people.

There is not enough thanks that can be given for the service they provide, a donation to their funds is a small start 💙
