Story
From never running to a half marathon! 🏃♀️
If you’d told me four months ago that I’d be training to run a half marathon, I honestly wouldn’t have believed you!
I had never run before. Running was definitely not something I considered myself to be good at, and the thought of running 13.1 miles seemed completely unrealistic.
But somehow, here I am — with less than three weeks to go until the Manchester Half Marathon!
The training has definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone. There have been good runs, difficult runs, days when I’ve really questioned what I’ve signed myself up for, and plenty of moments where I’ve just had to keep putting one foot in front of the other!
But there’s a really important reason I’m doing this.
I’m running to raise money for Community Solutions North West, a local charity doing some amazing work to support people in our communities who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation, financial hardship or difficult times in their lives.
They provide practical and emotional support, including befriending, mentoring, counselling, community activities and employment support — helping people feel connected, supported and able to move forward.
Being able to take on something that I never thought I could do, while raising money for a charity that supports local people, makes all those training runs feel worthwhile.
So, if you’re able to donate, every single pound would mean a lot to me and will help support the important work of Community Solutions North West.
And if you can't donate, that's absolutely fine, a share, a message of support, or simply cheering me on from the sidelines would mean so much too!
Now I just have to get myself around those 13.1 miles
Thank you so much for supporting me!
