Tara's fundraiser for Endometriosis UK and calm

Tara Lewry is raising money for Endometriosis UK

Great South Run · 18 October 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

I’m incredibly excited (and probably slightly terrified!) to share that I’ll be taking on the Great South Run this year, running to raise money for two charities that mean a huge amount to me personally — Endometriosis UK and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). ❤️

I’ve chosen these charities because they both represent causes that have touched my life in very different, but equally important, ways.

Endometriosis UK has been a source of support for me recently, following my diagnosis of adenomyosis in December last year — a diagnosis I had spent the previous 10 years fighting to get.

Sadly, my experience is one I’m sure many women will recognise. Years of symptoms, being dismissed, questioning your own body and being told that what you’re experiencing is somehow “normal” can take an enormous toll. Finally having an answer after a decade was a huge moment for me, and the support and information provided by Endometriosis UK has meant so much.

I’m running to help support the incredible work they do in raising awareness, providing information and support, and helping women feel heard and understood.

The second charity I’m running for is CALM — Campaign Against Living Miserably, a suicide prevention charity providing life-saving services and practical mental health support to anyone who needs it.

CALM is another charity that is incredibly close to my heart. I’ve previously helped raise money for them, and I wanted to continue supporting the amazing work they do. Mental health can affect any one of us, and the support CALM provides can genuinely be life-saving.

So, this run is going to be about a lot more than just crossing that finish line.

It’s about being heard. Being supported. Raising awareness. And hopefully helping someone else feel a little less alone.

If you’re able to support me, I would be incredibly grateful. Whether that’s through a donation, sharing my fundraising page, or simply cheering me on from the sidelines, every bit of support will mean so much. ❤️

I’ve got a lot of training ahead of me… so wish me luck! 😂🏃‍♀️

For Endometriosis UK. For CALM. And for everyone who needs someone in their corner.

Thank you for supporting me. ❤️
