Story
Poor mental health has far reaching and wide ranging impacts on children's lives and their journeys into adulthood and beyond. It affects children's school attendance, school exclusions, their relationships, their education, employment/economic activity and physical health in adulthood. It impacts on individuals, communities, society and the economy at multiple levels.
There has been a significant rise in anxiety, depression and eating disorders amongst children and young people over the past 20 years with a notable increase amongst young women (NHS England, 2023)
Through Art as Therapy AT The Bus delivers mental health support directly to children and young people in schools. Trained therapeutic arts facilitators use The Beattie Method, a relationship-based group intervention that uses art as therapy to support children's education and mental wellbeing. Research and evaluation to date has shown positive impact on children and schools arising from AT The Bus intervention. https://www.atthebus.org.uk/evaluationandresearch
I am fundraising to bring AT The Bus to children and young people in Bicester. Do look at what students elsewhere have said about AT The Bus
