Tarun's fundraiser for EMICS

Tarun Gill is raising money for EMICS

Robinhood Half Marathon Nottingham · 27 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

EMICS is a team of volunteer doctors and paramedics who attend emergency incidents in support of staff from the East Midlands Ambulance Service. EMICS clinicians provide advanced treatment and care at the scene, before the patient reaches hospital, dramatically increasing their chance of survival.

Story

I’m running a half marathon to raise £1,000 for EMICS, East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme, a charity that will always be incredibly close to my heart and my family’s.

When I was just 5 years old, I was in the bathroom with my 9 month old baby sister, Amber, when she nearly drowned. I witnessed something no 5 year old should ever have to see, but I knew something was terribly wrong and called for help.

What followed was one of the most frightening and traumatic days our family has ever experienced. Amber was critically ill and genuinely came frighteningly close to losing her life.

EMICS were among the first emergency responders to arrive and help Amber. Their volunteer doctors and paramedics provide specialist emergency care at the scene when every second matters.

Thankfully, my little sister survived. ❤️

I’ve never forgotten what happened that day or the people who came to help us when we desperately needed them. That’s why, all these years later, I want to give something back to the charity that was there for Amber and our family.

EMICS receives no NHS, government or public sector funding and relies on donations, grants, fundraising and sponsorship to provide the specialist equipment, medication and training their volunteers need to continue helping people in life threatening emergencies.

My goal is to raise £1,000 for EMICS, and I’d be incredibly grateful for any support.

Whether it’s £5, £10, £20 or whatever you can spare, every donation will help. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing my page would mean just as much.

I’m running this one for Amber, for EMICS, and for the next family who might one day need them as much as we did. ❤️

Thank you so much for your support.
