This June, we are are taking on the Windsor Half Marathon – The One to the Castle to raise money for Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue, a brilliant charity based in Bedford. They work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome French Bulldogs in need or at risk across England, Scotland, and Wales.

This cause is incredibly close to our hearts. We have a Frenchie called Bear, who was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) at just 4 years old. IVDD is a painful and often debilitating spinal condition that can cause nerve damage, mobility issues, and even paralysis. We've seen first-hand how hard it can be for dogs—and their owners—when serious health problems arise.

Sadly, Bear's story isn't unique. French Bulldogs are one of the most popular dog breeds in the UK, but their popularity has come at a cost. The rise in poor breeding practices has led to a surge in health problems, which many families are unprepared to deal with. As a result, abandonment rates are skyrocketing. The RSPCA reported that abandonments of French Bulldogs in the UK jumped from just 8 reported in 2020 to a heartbreaking 582 in 2023.

Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue gives these dogs a second chance—whether it’s providing medical care, behavioural support, or finding them a safe and loving home. Every penny we raise will go directly toward helping them continue this amazing work.
