Story
I am embarking on an ambitious challenge for me (given I couldn't even run a 4k last year) to run the San Sebastián Marathon in November. I am running for 40tude, a charity close to me as my grandfather died at the age of 40 when my father was in his teens. Although I never was lucky enough to meet my grandfather, I have been able to witness the saddening effect this disease has on lives and those it leaves behind.
40tude is working to raise awareness of the importance of getting tested regularly for colon (bowel) cancer, the UK's biggest cancer killer of non-smokers. Early diagnosis can and does save lives. So even if you just visit this page and don't wish to donate, please get yourself and loved ones tested regularly.
Your donation will be directed to cutting-edge research already making a difference to transforming the early diagnosis of colon cancer. Together we can reduce the number of people dying from this disease through scientific research as well as by raising awareness of the critical importance of testing. If this fundraising effort manages to raise awareness for one test to detect cancer then I've done my job!
Training has already started and I apologise to all those I drag out with me. I am in awe of everyone who has run a marathon or half before! It will be a challenging few months so I thank you for your support as I will certainly need it. Love, Tatum x
