In memory of Nan Clark and Uncle Jamie

Swimming 70miles, the equivalent of the distance around the Isle of White · 1 September 2025

Oakhaven Hospice supports people in our New Forest, Waterside and Totton communities who are facing end of life. We provide support to manage peoples physical, emotional and spiritual needs. With your donation we can really make every moment matter for those who need us most.

Story

From the 01st September 2025 I will be starting my swimming challenge in aid of Oakhaven Hospice.

I will be swimming the equivalent of the distance around the Isle of Wight, a total of 70miles, which I am aim to complete in Elmers Court swimming pool. This will be 7000 lengths in total. I have set myself a goal of 234 lengths in one hit, per day for the whole of September but I will aim to do more on somedays and hopefully finish earlier than the 30th September as expected.

I am doing this in memory of my Nan Clark who lost her battle to pancreatic cancer in 2004 and also my Uncle Jamie who very recently lost his battle to a very rare bile duct cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma in 2024 at the age of just 49.

They are both loved and missed unconditionally and have left a hole in so many hearts.

I took up swimming when things got tough in my own personal life, I'm no professional swimmer, believe me! If anything, I know my three beautiful children will be even more proud of their mum for raising money for charity that has helped and will continue to help so many people.

Let's hope I can raise as much as possible for Oakhaven Hospice. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, lets do this!
