Story
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam, a deeply humbling act of worship that purifies not only our wealth, but our hearts.
This February, I will be travelling with Hayat Welfare Trust to personally distribute zakat and essential aid in Sindh, Pakistan, meeting families whose patience and resilience in hardship continue to humble me.
By the will of Allah, this zakat will also be distributed at the beginning of Ramadan, making it even more special and meaningful, at a time when hearts are soft, needs are great, and rewards are multiplied.
Giving zakat is a reminder that what we have is never truly ours. It is a trust from Allah, and a means through which He allows us to ease the burdens of others. To be able to give is a blessing in itself.
May we always give sincerely and quietly, with full trust that whatever we give for Allah's sake is returned to us many times over through His mercy and blessings.
