Story

I am running the London marathon in loving memory of my mother and father-in-law, Judy and Jonathan, who died in August 2024.

Whilst our world has changed immeasurably, their warmth, compassion and the unwavering support they showed for others can never be lost. They believed deeply in the work of the NSPCC and supported the charity for many years, with Jonathan receiving an MBE for his services to children after his commitment as treasurer for the NSPCC for many years.

As devoted parents and grandparents, they embodied the nurturing and protective care all children deserve. We were so fortunate to have them and know they would have cherished our own son.

Their loss was tragic, but their values and generosity continue to inspire us every day. By taking on this marathon, I hope to honour their memory in a meaningful way and continue the support they so strongly believed in—helping to protect children, support families, and create safer, brighter futures for those who need it most.

The NSPCC is the UK’s leading children’s charity dedicated to ending child abuse and protecting vulnerable young people. Every day, they provide vital services like Childline, giving children a safe place to turn when they feel scared, alone, or unheard. The NSPCC’s work is more important than ever, as more children may be at risk and in need of support. By donating, you’re helping to be a voice for those children.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you are able to give. It really means so much! On marathon day I will be thinking of you all, of my own son, of all children and I’ll be picturing Judy and Jon cheering us all on.
