Story
One in four adults and one in ten children are affected by their mental health. Suicide is the biggest killer for people aged under 35. In the UK, it is the leading cause of death for 10-19 year olds. These statistics are absolutely heart breaking and having personally been affected by suicide and knowing people who have been affected by their mental health and/or the outcome of suicide, more needs to be done to help people before it’s too late.
That is why I am working with the Rose Pub in Dartford to organise a fundraising day on 30th August to raise money for North Kent Mind, who covers the areas of Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Medway to support people with their mental health.
If you can donate towards our stalls, give your time and get involved, donate a pound or even just show your face to support this amazing charity which has helped hundreds of people with their mental health and suicidal thoughts, please do.
But most importantly, check on your friends, parents, siblings, children and partners. Check on your happiest friend, the one who laughs the most. Check on the friend who keeps cancelling plans. Check on the friend who is the most quiet. Because anyone could be fighting a battle inside their head, and they could be so close to loosing and you wouldn’t even notice.
