The Cookie Jar Foundation was set up by the family of Christopher Coutts who lost his two year fight against cancer at the age of 19. Our main aim is to provide support to both children and young adults in need of help, whether it be in hospital, educational or community based environment..

Story

Hi everyone,

This May, I’ll be taking on the Edinburgh Marathon 2026 — 26.2 miles to honour the memory of Christopher Coutts and to raise money for The Cookie Jar Foundation, the charity set up in his name.

The Cookie Jar Foundation does incredible work supporting children, young people, and hospitals across Scotland. One of their current projects is raising money for vein finders — vital pieces of equipment that make it easier for medical staff to locate veins for patients. This cause is deeply personal, as it meant so much to Cookie due to the challenges he faced finding veins throughout his treatment.

Each vein finder unit costs £3,795, and the charity continues to receive regular requests from hospitals for them. Every donation, no matter how small, helps them provide more of this life-changing equipment to wards that truly need it.

Running this marathon is my way of keeping Cookie’s memory alive and helping the charity continue the work that began in his honour.

If you’re able to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful — your support will make a real difference to patients and families across Scotland, and it will help carry forward Cookie’s legacy of kindness and care.

Thank you so much for your support 💚
