Taylor Prescott to Take on London Marathon Again in Tribute to Father’s Legacy

Taylor Prescott is gearing up to return to the London Marathon next April, determined to beat his 2024 time of 3:17:37 and honour the legacy of his late father, rugby league legend and inspirational fundraiser Steve Prescott.

At just 24, Taylor has already taken on extraordinary endurance challenges, including 100 miles in 48 hours and seven ultra-marathons in seven days, continuing the family tradition of pushing boundaries for charity. Steve ran the London Marathon three times and, alongside Taylor’s grandfather Eric, helped make it a Prescott family milestone.

Steve Prescott, who starred for St Helens, Hull FC, and Wakefield Trinity, became a global symbol of courage after a terminal cancer diagnosis, raising nearly £500,000 for the Steve Prescott Foundation before his death in 2013. Taylor is determined to carry that torch forward.

“London is on another level,” Taylor says. “Following in my dad and grandad’s footsteps will be incredibly special. I was happy with 3:17:37 last time, but I am hoping to beat that time in April”

The public can join Taylor’s challenge in two ways, centred around the St Helens 10K in March and a virtual London Marathon challenge:

St Helens 10K – Team Taylor

• Sunday 1st March

• Raise £80 for free entry and a training T-shirt

Virtual London Marathon

• Run or row 26.2 miles from anywhere, solo or in a team

• Individual: £100 | Team of 2: £200 | Team of 4: £300

• All participants receive a training vest and certificate

“I hope to feel the same support I gave my dad when I watched him run in 2008 and 2010,” Taylor adds. “He ran it three times while terminally ill — I’ll be thinking about him every step of the way.”

All funds raised support the Steve Prescott Foundation, which benefits The Christie Cancer Hospital and the RFL Benevolent Fund.
