Story
On 26th April we’re setting out on a once-in-a-lifetime journey, to cycle down one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, following the Pacific Coast Highway. The dream is to complete the ride border to border, Canada to Mexico. We’ll be riding for seven weeks. We’ll be on e-bikes so we get a bit of help up the hills, and staying in AirBnBs along the way. The original dream was a pushbike and tent but that was 38 years ago and well, we’re in our 60s now, so we thought why not be more comfortable and make sure we enjoy it.
We have chosen to support WaterAid as one of our two charities during the expedition. WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.
Clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene should be a normal part of everyone’s daily life. Without all three, people can’t live dignified, healthy lives. With all three, they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good.
