My name is Tayo Oyewole and I’m excited to participate in the upcoming 2025 Dublin marathon to raise funds for WellChild, this cause holds a special place in my heart. When I was just a few months old, I battled pneumonia and came very close to losing my life as a baby, the doctor said it was very unlikely that I would survive. After numerous misdiagnosis and the nurses telling my parents it was just a common flu, not having yet figured out that my lungs were badly infected and filled with fluid, but after multiple visits to the hospital one special doctor realised that it was much more severe than a common flu and something more extreme than that. After this I was instantly put into critical condition and underwent an operation where the chances of my survival were unlikely but we managed to pull through. This is an experience that has shaped me, and I’ve always carried a deep sense of gratitude for the care and support I received. Knowing how important it is for children and their families to have access to the right care when they need it most, this is why I chose to raise funds specifically for WellChild, along with all the kids we are raising money for it is also for the baby version of myself. An organisation that makes a real difference and that works towards a cause I hold dear to my heart. If it wasn’t for the good healthcare I was able to receive back then, I wouldn’t be here today as the person some of you may know me as. This is something I hope to help as many children as I can with, allowing them to get through any vital sickness they may have with the necessary medical care and making the process as easy as possible for them and their families so they do not have to struggle and feel alone.

Every donation, no matter the size can help improve the lives of children facing serious health challenges and I hope my participation can contribute to this incredible cause and bring hope to those who need it most.
