On the 27th September, I’ll be spending my birthday running 26.2 miles along side of part of Loch Ness in memory of my son Thomas, raising money for the Thomas Dennett Foundation.

We lost Thomas suddenly in December 2022, when he was just 17 years old.

Thomas was kind, funny and had a way of lighting up a room. He was the person who could always make you laugh, but he had a serious side too and a real ability to understand how other people were feeling, almost as if he could put himself in their shoes. He cared deeply about people, and that kindness is something so many remember about him.

He had so much ahead of him and so many plans for the future.

Losing Thomas changed our lives forever, and from that came the Foundation established in his memory.

The Thomas Dennett Foundation helps children, young people and families affected by sudden bereavement or long-term illness, providing support when it is needed most.

Since the Foundation began, so many incredible challenges and fundraising efforts have helped keep Thomas’s memory at the heart of everything it does.

This challenge is a personal one for me and a way of doing something positive in Thomas’s name. I know there’ll be moments when I’ll need to dig deep, and Thomas will be very much in my thoughts every step of the way.

And I’m pretty sure Kermit will be coming along for the 26.2 miles too. 💚

Every donation, however big or small, will help us continue the work being done in Thomas’s memory and support other families going through incredibly difficult times.
