Update from Team Duct Tape 🩹
With just a few months to go, we’ll be ramping up the plugs for our London Marathon fundraising page.
We’ve had a few changes along the way…
Sadly, we’ve had to say goodbye (for now!) to one of our teammates who’s facing knee surgery for a torn meniscus. However, we’re delighted to welcome his wee sister Allison to the team! Allison is absolutely buzzing to pick up the baton from her big brother and tick the London Marathon off her bucket list 🏃♀️✨
We’re also saying goodbye to Tracey, whose injuries are causing too much pain at the moment. She’s stepping back to focus on recovery — but this is not forever. We know she’ll be back when she’s better 💛
Adele is currently battling runner’s knee and is seeing a physio while undergoing kinetic chain release therapy. She hasn’t managed to run for a few weeks, but we’re hoping to test the knee with a gentle 5K this weekend 🤞
Maggie is plodding on despite disc and nerve pain, helped by remedial massage treatments. She’s managing not too badly — the main goal now is getting the distance built back up beyond 14K.
So yes… we are very much hanging together by duct tape, but we’re still hanging together — and we’re not giving up! 🩹💪
This race has been a bucket-list dream for all of us, but it’s not just about crossing the finish line. We’re doing it for a cause that truly matters to us — Macmillan Cancer Support.
Macmillan has touched the lives of so many people close to us, offering care, guidance, and comfort during the darkest times. Most recently, we lost a beloved gym member — a young mum who left behind her husband and four children. We know Macmillan helped them through that incredibly tough journey, and now, we want to give back.
Every mile we run (or hobble!) is in honour of everyone fighting, surviving, or grieving.
Please support us if you can — whether it’s donating, sharing our story, or cheering us on. We’re doing this with full hearts, aching knees, and a whole lot of love.
Let’s do something amazing together. 💚
