Story
We work at the Kidney Unit at The Queen Elizabeth in Glasgow and are delighted, honoured and a little bit terrified to be taking part in Strictly Beatson this year for Team Eilidh.
Eilidh McHugh was only 22 when she died in 2017, at the Queen Elizabeth, of a rare form of aggressive cancer. We first met Eilidh's inspiring family in 2024 and are in awe of their dedication and drive to make a difference to patients and their families affected by cancer in Eilidh's name, despite experiencing unimaginable grief themselves.
Our Strictly Beatson team is made up of: Tara Collidge, Colin Geddes, Emily McQuarrie, Raj Patel, Kate Stevens and Jamie Traynor.
We are very fortunate to have David Lloyd Hamilton proudly supporting our fundraising for this special cause.
We see, on a regular basis, the devastating effect illness - whether short lived or chronic - has on those affected as well as their family and friends. Illness, particularly if it is life limiting, is often unexpected and overwhelming and so the support and services for patients and their relatives offered by charities like Beatson Cancer Charity are crucial.
Eilidh's name means light and funds raised by her family have funded many key Beatson Cancer Charity services including My Light, an invaluable online resource providing information, support and advice for those affected by cancer.
Although we did not get the chance to meet Eilidh, it is our absolute privilege to bust out the moves and light up the dancefloor in her honour.
Please join Team Kidney Light on our journey as we fundraise and learn to dance for Eilidh and all those affected by cancer. Anything you can donate to our JustGiving page will make a difference and your kindness and generosity will support the continuation of the invaluable services Beatson Cancer Charity provides.
