Why St Helens Young Carers?

A Young Carer is someone aged 6 - up to the age of 18 who provides regular or ongoing care and emotional support towards a family member who is ill, disabled, has a mental health condition or misuses drugs or alcohol. They often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult.

These responsibilities often mean that a young carer misses out opportunities their peer groups take for granted. We believe every Young Carer should have the same opportunities as other children and young people of a similar age.

Dave, Gergo and Anna are taking part in the AJ BELL Great Manchester Run to raise money to enable the St Helens Young Carers Centre to offer some respite and support to children and young people who both need and deserve it.
