Story
Join in with our Young Live vs Cancer - Step Around the Houses fundraising challenge!
We are supporting Young Lives vs Cancer throughout the year at our conference series and we are all planning to 'Step Around the Houses' during September 2025. September is also Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
Young Lives vs Cancer has 10 Homes from Home* across the UK and the collective distance between them all is 2.5million steps. We are setting ourselves the challenge to cover as many steps across the month of September. Could we get around the houses 5 times (12.5million steps!), 10 times (25million steps!)?
There are 4800 HCSA Members and if we all covered an average of 10,000 steps per day we would complete 300,000 steps - 1,440,000,000 steps! A crazy 576 times Around the Houses! If we all donated £10 to participate, we'd raise an incredible £48,000.
You can walk, cycle, run 2.5million steps (1,233 miles) to cover as much of the virtual distance of travelling between the 10 Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home in the UK with Team HCSA in September 2025. SIGN UP NOW!
* Our Homes from Home are a free place for families to stay when their child is going through cancer treatment. They're close to principal treatment centres, helping families avoid the extra financial burdens of travel, accommodation and food costs. They also allow young cancer patients to be close to their loved ones, keeping the family together at a difficult time.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.
At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you.
