Story
Let's go! This is going to be our team's biggest and best Twilight Walk for The Brain Tumour Charity. 🧠❤️
This year we have our OGs Jonathan, Deb and Grace, with regular cameos Clare, Ella and Emma, AND newest recruits Celia, Iman, Sam and Charlie! ✨
The OGs, aka the Latters, first formed a relationship with this wonderful charity back in 2014, when Grace (that's me! it's weird writing this) was first diagnosed with a low grade pilocytic astrocytoma wedged deep in her left temporal lobe, between the brain stem and cerebellum. This tumour had been growing quietly for 10-15 years, and it had developed some cysts which led to Grace suffering some strange symptoms in her last few months of uni, including tremors, reduced balance, and ultimately loss of function in half her body.
This goes to show — it's not always headaches and poor vision!
Symptoms can take any form, and it's so important to raise awareness as well as funds for research into preventing not just the damage a brain tumour can do, but also to stop so many misdiagnoses and failures to do the right tests.
The average person with a brain tumour has been to see their GP 3 times before having the right test run — or just being listened to and believed. That's just not good enough! Let's sort that out, shall we?
You'll meet our team members individually in upcoming posts, so keep an eye out for that! Now... give us your pennies, please!!
