Story
Who are we?
Team Loughborough are a group of colleagues and mutual friends who are raising money for the National Autistic Society this April. Born from an idea of a singular activity by myself (Bruce Astill), colleagues expressed an interest in taking part alongside me. We aim to collectively walk 500 miles in order to raise money for the National Autistic Society.
About my story
My Autism journey started when I was diagnosed as Aspergers syndrome back I'm 1997, when I was around 4/5 years old. Ever since then, the National Autistic Society have helped thousands of Autistic people, their families, and carers, and continue to support so many people on a daily basis. I want to raise some money to help further the efforts of the NAS for the many more Autistic people who they need to support.
About the Challenge
The challenge is simple, yet challenging. We have set a communal goal of 500 miles for us to complete in the month of April. Mileage can be accumulated either by walking, or running, activities. These activities must be done outside of the workplace. Contributors can record leisure activity, and commuting, to help reach the overall target. Our group reflects from very active people, to people who may only be active in an average manner. This way, all people who take part can do what they find comfortable or challenging to reach the target. We currently have a team of 14 and we are confident we can reach the target.
Where can I find updates?
Updates of the activities we've undertaken, as small groups and individuals will be posted mainly on our Facebook page, but updates will also appear here. Click here for the FaceboFacebook page
