Each year NAPIT choses a charity to fundraise for; this year our chosen charity is Young Lives vs Cancer. This charity helps children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them by working around six core principles:

• Day-to-day support - care teams provide day-to-day support from diagnosis for each child, young person and family, from information and guidance to clinical care and specialist play during treatment.

• Financial support - helping sort essential financial support, grants, benefits and other support entitlements, liaising with employers and resolving housing issues to keep families together.

• Homes from home - providing free homes from home close to hospitals for families during treatment to help keep families together.

• Emotional support - supporting young cancer patients emotionally – building their resilience so they can continue to learn, regain their confidence and be inspired to think beyond cancer.

• Bereavement support - helping young cancer patients and families find a way to cope with the emotional pain and prepare for death, if the unthinkable happens.

• Campaigning - YLVC campaign tirelessly to raise awareness of children and young people’s experiences and champion their voices to politicians and decision makers across the UK
