Story
I am dashing for Dial West Cheshire in Boston Marathon on 15th April and London Marathon on 21st April, to raise vitals funds to help continue to provide services for disabled people in Cheshire West and Chester.
Dial West Cheshire is a local charity based in Dial House, Chester whose aim is to empower disabled people and older people to live sustained, independent lives. Our services provide advice, support, and a sense of community. Disabled people are right at the heart of our organisation with over 70% of our workforce having a disability or long-term health condition. We have a small team of paid staff who support a larger team of volunteers, all of whom have come from the community, and have been trained, and developed to help others within the community. Our business mirrors our belief that society should be inclusive and provide the support necessary to allow disabled people to participate fully.
Our range of services include the West Cheshire Autism Hub, an experienced disability rights advice team, cross-borough Shopmobility services, a Community Café at Dial House, a social group for the over 50s, volunteering, training and employment opportunities. All our services strive towards achieving our aims of reducing poverty, improving economic status, reducing social isolation, improving health and well-being and raising awareness of needs and aspirations.
