Darren Lavender is raising money for Leicester Rape Crisis Centre
LRC is run by an all female team (Trustees, staff and volunteers). We provide safe space where women and girls can access free and confidential services following any form of sexual violence either recently or in the past.

Story

Hi all , my name is Darren Lavender, along with my wife Louise we run two pubs in our local town of Hinckley, The New Plough Inn and The Greyhound, over the past 18 years we have raised more than £200k for charity with the help of our amazing customers, staff and family.

Over the next 8 months we will be raising money for a very important charity that gives help and support to young girls who have been the victim of rape and sexual assault, which unfortunately is all to common place.

Jasmine House is a Leicester based charity working with female survivors of sexual abuse, sexual violence and rape. Working in the sector for over 30 years, they have seen an ever-increasing demand for their services.

LRC is run by an all-female team (Trustees, staff and volunteers). They provide a safe space where women and girls can access free and confidential services following any form of sexual violence either recently or in the past.

Team Plough-Hound have many upcoming events planned to raise money for this fantastic charity. Starting with 9 of us running Oxford half marathon on October 12th, a week later my lovely wife Louise and one of our team Hannah will be competing in their first (probably last!) Hyrox competition in Birmingham, we also have several other things lined up with the finale in April in which our daughter Georgia will be running the London marathon.

We've chosen this charity not only because its important, but also because someone very special to us has found great help and support from it, having been a victim themselves. unfortunately historic sexual assault is very difficult to prove, even if the CPS and Police believe the perpetrator to be guilty and press for trial, on average 3 -100 cases recorded go to trial within a year, and once in court it is very difficult for the victims to prove the guilt of their attacker, leaving too many cases in which the victim is left without justice and the defendant being allowed to walk free.

So folks if you’d like to help us and give to this fantastic charity please do, we’ll be giving updates on our Facebook / Instagram pages so you can keep up with our progress.
