Cancer patients often feel socially isolated as friends drift away unsure of what to say. Letters are a wonderful way to keep people connected at a time when they feel most disconnected. Our events help people to find the courage to write, either to friends or for our Donate A Letter campaign.

Story

This year 2024 I am doing the April London Landmarks 1/2 marathon... I am thankful that my very good friend Lesley Jepson who will be also doing the event with me as my support runner. It maybe a walk / run due to having a hip replacement June 23 & a knee op in Dec 23 but still at it.... cancer & ops don't stop me! It's a big thank you to Macmillan for arranging for the support allowance for me.

In 2021 we walked (Lesley & I) over1,000,000 steps / 500 miles / 804km each all in 1 month - what an amazing August........ Since then well there have been a few joint issues as per above!!! (I am expecting another knee op and hip of in 2024). Our total miles in 31 days was 1062 miles - over our target of 500 miles each!

I am still on chemo & bone drugs through to 2029 so we are still at it so for the next 60 months we will be undertaking a number of events to raise awareness and funding for the amazing charity that is From Me To You. You can see how we are getting on throughout the blog...... events will include charity evenings, coffee mornings, marathons full & 1/2 (if you fancy hosting an event for us or joining an event - just let us know). We are fundraising for both personal reasons past and current and current friends situations to ensure that continued support for patients, families and friends is there as times when needed. All money raised will ensure that work and support can continue to provide emotional and connectivity support to people affected by cancer. Help us reach our target and help others.

From Me to You encourages people to write letters to friends suffering with cancer keeping them connected at a time when they feel most disconnected. They also run a Donate A Letter campaign, sending anonymous letters to cancer patients in hospitals across the UK. Social isolation is often felt by cancer patients and something as simple as a letter can alleviate this. I started to write for FM2Y when I had finished chemo and I started my radio treatment - I felt it benefited me back in 2020 and I have activity written since and more recently started to run letter writing workshops with Alison!

£5 buys a book of stamps

£10 buys a letter-writing kit posted out to anyone requesting one

£15 buys a place for someone to attend one of our workshops across the UK

This charity makes a difference.... take it from someone that knows!

Support me and my support runner (Lesley - bless her i do not know what she has let herself in for!!) as we embark on the London Landmarks 1/2 marathon this April.... if I have to crawl I will be completing it x
